About

Hello, gentle reader, and welcome to my blog.  I appreciate your stopping by, and I hope you will enjoy the somewhat meager posts I have to offer you.

By way of introduction, allow me to introduce myself as the Desperado - a somewhat juvenile and self-aggrandizing nom de plume, but, given the title I chose for the blog (a tribute to the late, great Warren Zevon's song of the same name - see below), it seemed appropriate.  I'm an armchair strategist; a Hollywood philosopher; a rogue, in short, who doesn't take himself too seriously.  I'm a law student and foreign affairs aficionado, with a particular interest in the Middle East, counter-terrorism, and security studies.  I will also be up front with you about some of my biases.  The first, and likely the most significant for this blog, is that I am quite pro-Israel.  If you are looking for a rabidly anti-Israel, anti-Zionist blog, I suggest you go elsewhere.  That said, I'd like to think I'm relatively fair, and I'm certainly not one of those people who believes that Israel can do no wrong.

Anyway, this blog, my most recent foray into blogging after several abortive attempts, is mostly for the purposes of keeping up my writing skills, archiving links and stories that I'm interested in, and, hopefully, provided some level of entertainment and information to you, dear reader.

The main topics that this blog will likely focus on are as follows: Middle Eastern affairs, US security policy, and terrorism/counter-terrorism.  Enjoy!
